The Little Prince

So, I haven't blogged in a really long time and I have so many pictures on my camera. So, grab a cup of coffee or tea, your reading glasses, and get ready for a bunch of new blog posts. These pictures are from tonight when we went to The Little Prince, which is a restaurant where they have workers who will look after your kids while you eat dinner. We went there with Ken's Uncle Bob and Aunt Ruth who are vacationing here from CT this week. It was great to catch up with them and the kids had a blast playing. And, yes, we ordered the shaved ice!

Ken's Birthday Party

So we had a birthday bash for Ken at Souplantation. A lot of friends showed up to celebrate Ken. And, being at the stage of life we're in right now, that means that a lot of kids were there too. Above was when we sang Happy Birthday to Ken. Below is Brad and 2 of his buddies doing what they do best.

Basically Ken's party took up this whole entire section! We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends to celebrate with!

This is our wonderful children's director at church and her little boy. They matched so perfectly, I just had to take a picture of them!

Teacher Appreciation Dessert Night

On Wednesday our church hosted a teacher appreciation dessert night complete with chocolate fountain! Although none of the kids' teachers were able to come, we went with them (we teach them too, right?). The kids sang a few songs for us and Sky sang very very LOUD! Brad didn't want to go and sing because he had a plate of yummy food in front of him. But, at the last moment, he ran up there and sang with everyone else.

Brad Takes Swimming Lessons

Brad has been begging to take swimming lessons because Sky has been taking them and, as he says, "I want to learn all the things that Sky knows." He had his first class this weekend and really enjoyed it and did pretty well.

Ken Presents a Paper

Last Sunday Ken presented a paper at the regional SBL (Society of Biblical Literature) conference. Our lovely pastor's wife offered to watch the kids so that I could attend the paper. That was a real treat! Here are some pictures of Sky enjoying herself at Karen's house with all the stuffed animals. The paper went well. It was on the book of Judges (big surprise!).

Star of the Week

So, last week Sky got to be star of the week for her class. This meant that she got to take the Pigeon home for the weekend. If you haven't read the Pigeon books by Mo Willems, you really should check them out from your local library. They're super cute! The Pigeon loves hot dogs so we had a hot dog party for him while he was at our house.
Sky took the Pigeon to church with her. Her teacher posed with her for a picture.
Sky went to her friend Kelli's birthday party and the Pigeon got to come too. The party was a library/book theme so here he is pictured with the book worm cake and the birthday girl.
On Friday night we went to El Torito, a local Mexican restaurant, with our friends the Denhams. In addition to hot dogs, we discovered that the Pigeon also loves guacamole.

And the Pigeon had a blast at Sky's gymnastics class. All in all, it was a fun-filled weekend. In addition to bringing home the Pigeon, Sky also enjoyed some special class activities that focused on her last week.

Sky Gets An Award

Today we went to an assembly at Sky's school where she received an award for improvement in reading. We are very proud of Sky since before she began 1st grade, she was a non-reader and now she is reading pretty well. In other news, she lost her 5th tooth a few days ago. She is definitely growing up!
