Pretty much not a day goes by without some sort of show or dance routine being performed in our backyard. I have to admit that I am so thankful for our yard that includes both cement patio for eating and a decent sized grassy area for playing (our previous home only had cement-no grass to play on).
Right after I took this picture there was an announcement about not using cameras during the performance and that there would be a chance at the end of the show to take pictures.
Sky got that crazy green braid/hair extension at Chuck E Cheese's and she thinks it's the best thing ever. In her hair she has that, a silver tiara and 3 hibiscus hair clips.
This was the interview portion of the show. I cannot remember what was talked about but I do think the cuteness factor counts for something. Sky did all of the costuming and it was a big surprise to see even Lila getting in on the action. Lila was the d.j. for much of the show.
We had some friends over on Saturday and our kids had a blast playing with their daughter Joy. They had a picnic in the yard and all of them had on sunglasses. Too funny!

Dog Grooming
The other day Sky opened a dog grooming shop right in our living room and Brad had the privilege of being a doggy and getting groomed at the shop. Here is what he looked like when I picked him up from his grooming session. Someday this incident will come back to haunt him.

Sky's 2nd Grade Class
So, we're about 1 month into homeschooling and I'm really enjoying it. Sky is a student in a homeschool charter school called Sky Mountain. So we are able to spend $1,600 on music/art/activity classes and swimming lessons and also curriculum. I also get to meet with an education specialist every 20 days and she files all paperwork with the state.
I am still looking for a piano and/or voice teacher but Sky is enrolled in a Friday gym class at BIOLA, 2 art classes, a spelling class and 2 sessions of swimming lessons.
She also attends a co-op on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. There are 10 children total (see above picture) and the teacher is someone who has homeschooled her now-grown children since they were young. And, yes, the "classroom" is in her garage. Sky learns science and social studies with this group. Sky really loves all of these things that she is involved in.
Brad has started back at preschool and goes on MWF from 11-2 during which time Lila takes her nap. So, Sky and I have that entire time to focus on her reading, writing and math. It's working out pretty well. Brad loves his preschool. The other night at bedtime I asked Brad what his favorite thing was about that day was and he said, "Preschool!" So, I am thrilled that everyone seems happy with their educational experiences and I am happy because things feel a lot less stressful than they were last year.
