Kids' Night at Chick Fil A

We went to Chick Fil A for the kid's night on Tuesday. They were doing karate demonstrations and Sky tried out a few of the moves.

Valentine's Day Brunch

I hosted a Valentine's Day brunch for the MOMS Club at my house yesterday. 14 kids and 6 moms came to have some fun.
We had a scavenger hunt and Lila got a lolly pop which she is enjoying in this picture.

The kids had fun looking for treats on the scavenger hunt and then they exchanged Valentine's with each other.

It was a potluck so each mom brought something to share. There was no lack of food!

Lila loves her seats. She also loves a good party.

The Watermelon Fairy House

So Sky saw this watermelon fairy house in a magazine and has been dying to make one for herself. It has taken a while to find a watermelon (they're not exactly in season right now) but we finally did. She had fun using pumpkin carving tools to make her fairy house and she really enjoyed eating the watermelon. I would say that she ate most of the watermelon on her own. Unfortunately the house has already rotted and was thrown away today. But we had our fun.

Carbon Canyon Park

We tried a new park (one that we'd never been to before) called Carbon Canyon Park. There was a $3 parking fee but it was well worth it. There are 3 amazing playgrounds all within view of each other. Brad especially enjoyed the tire swing.
Lila really liked the riding horse. She had a blast and left the park very dirty and tired.

Lila LOVES slides right now but she isn't quite big enough to manage them herself so I've been riding the slides a lot lately.

Sleeplessness

Top 15 reasons to wake up your parents in the middle of the night:

1. You're teething
2. You vomitted in your bed
3. You thought you vomitted in your bed (yes, this actually happened)
4. You peed in your bed
5. You fell out of your bed (even though you have rails to prevent that)
6. You're afraid of dinosaurs, volcanoes, bears, lions, and the like
7. You had a bad dream
8. Your blankets "fell off" and you can't fix them yourself
9. You misplaced a stuffed animal
10. You lost your binky (even though it's strapped to your pajamas)
11. You're hungry or thirsty (thankfully we're past the nursing stage!)
12. You're cold or hot
13. The cat is scratching at your screen door
14. The sprinkler system woke you up
15. You thought it would be a good time to get up and watch a movie

Talbot Construction Update

The new Talbot building is now almost completely funded (still needing $800,000) and recently the walls went up! God is so good and it is so exciting to see this building project come to fruition. It will provide faculty offices and classrooms for the faculty and students of Talbot.

Downtown Disney Scavenger Hunt

Last weekend we celebrated a friend's birthday in Downtown Disney. She and her husband arranged a scavenger hunt that involved the stores and landmarks there. We were in groups of 4 and had a super fun time (even though our group came in last place).
We ate at a Mexican food place and had Haagen Daz ice cream later that night.
It was really fun to hang out with our friends from church (without all of our kids)!

This is Ken's party face. He gets very excited about date nights!

Brad Sings

Brad learned this cute song about love (for Valentine's Day) at preschool. Turn up your volume to hear it best.

Sky Sings the Books of the Old Testament

Music Show at the Library

We had a fabulous Saturday at the park with our family. We brought Sky's bike and she got the hang of riding without training wheels which was so exciting. We also brought sand toys and had a blast digging in the sand. After the park we went to the library for a kids' music show. At one point all of the kids got to play with a musical instrument. Above you can see Lila with her shaker.
Sky and Brad volunteered to help lead the singing up front.

The guy told some funny stories and sang some silly songs that I think will be around in our family for a while.

Sky's Dentist Appointment

Let me begin by recapping Sky's experiences at the dentist.
When she was 4 years old, she knocked her 2 front teeth loose on her bed rail. She had one of them (affectionately referred to as the"snaggle tooth") pulled at the dentist before my brother Gary's wedding. She gets very upset at the sight of blood and this was no exception (even though I don't think it hurt much because it was literally hanging there by a thread). There was a lot of crying and drama.
Then about a year ago she had a cavity and had to have it filled. This was right after I had Lila so Ken took her for the appointment. She was so nervous and upset that she threw up all over Ken and the dentist. Ugh. Ken has sworn to never take her to the dentist again.
She was coming due for a cleaning and I was saw a new dentist office opening that specialized in pediatric dentistry. So, I decided to switch dentists and try this new one instead. Boy am I glad I did!
This new place was amazing with some really cool technology and they were so awesome with Sky. They let her push the xray button for my xrays and they explained everything to her before doing anything. She actually had fun! They have a toy chest and let her pick 2 toys from it and they also gave her an Ariel electric toothbrush. She loves that thing and has been brushing after every meal now. Plus, she had no cavities. It was a very happy day.
In the picture she was getting ready for her cleaning and they gave her goggles to "protect her from any splashing". If you look closely, you can see her xrays displayed on the flat screen in front of her. The xrays would appear in front of you on the screen just seconds after being taken. So cool!

Half Way Day

Today was Sky's 90th day of school, signifying the healf way point of the school year. In honor of such a momentous day, her class had "Half Way Day" where the kids came with their hair half done, their pajamas still half on, etc. Sky went in with 2 different socks, nonmatching shoes, uneven hair buns, etc. She was very excited. I can't believe that the school year is only half done. Well, here's to the next 90 school days!
