Hong Kong Express

I think we are officially done with the stomach flu around here. It attacked Ken over the weekend resulting in his cancelling of class yesterday and a constant close proximity to the toilet. But, we're all back on our feet, so to speak, so we went to the local Chinese restaurant to "celebrate".
Anytime we go out to eat it's a humbling experience. Our kids are loud and usually make a mess. We've been to the Hong Kong Express before so they already "know" us there. They have a family special that includes an amazing amount of food for a very low price.
They have a large statue of Confucius (I think), maybe it's Buddha, I should probably just ask. Last time we went here Brad called it a "robot". This time we walked into the place and Brad said, "Look at the monster!" Ken quickly ushered the 3 kids over to a table while I ordered the food.
As I'm ordering I hear Ken say, "Oh no!! Don't move!". I look over and Brad has accidentally spilled a bottle of soy sauce all over Sky's white shirt and skirt. You can imagine how that went over.
I brought the food over to the table and Sky asks, "Why didn't they give us chapsticks?" Hmmmm. Where to begin? It's not chapsticks, it's chopsticks. And we probably didn't get any because we insulted their statue and can't eat rice well with a fork, never mind chopsticks!

Lila is 9 Months Old!

Lila had her 9 month well-baby check up today and she has jumped from the 8th percentile in weight to the 25th percentile. She's still a peanut but I was glad to see that improvement. She has started eating solids better but gets terribly constipated. We also saw the cranial/facial specialists this week and they were very happy with the progress in the reshaping of Lila's head. Hooray for good news for Lila! I've worried about her for so long (and continue to) and I really feel emotionally drained from it all. Hopefully she'll continue on this positive trajectory.
This week has been challenging! I had a week's worth of fun planned and then Brad got sick on Mon. and Tues. night (vomitting for a few hours each night). Ugh! Then I got sick last night. Ken is not feeling too hot right now. I'm so tired of all of this! Hopefully there'll be no more sickness and we can get back into our fun times groove.

Swimming Lessons

Sky has started swimming lessons again. Above you can see her doing a back float with her teacher beside her. Below she is working on her kicking skills.

Below Sky is standing next to her teacher as her teacher instructs them how to tread water. The pool is heated which is nice on those colder days.

Easter 2010

It was so special to be able to spend the Easter holiday with my brother Eric and his family! We don't usually get to spend holidays with family so, when we do, it's extra special. Here are the kids on our front steps.

Auntie Michelle has a tradition in her family of making a bunny cake and so she did that with Sky and Brad. While she was mixing the batter we had an earthquake and the bowl fell on the floor so she had to start over with cookie batter but the outcome was great. The earthquake killed the first bunny cake! The kids really enjoyed decorating the cake and eating it, of course.

Seriously, these kids are cute, don't you think?

We found matching outfits for Hannah and Lila and a pretty similar one for Sky. The Easter bunny brought these flower headbands for Hannah and Lila.

Sky sang a solo at the Easter services at church. She did a great job and wasn't even nervous!

Easter Egg Hunt

We enjoyed the town egg hunt! Everyone was on a sugar high afterward.

Lila loves her daddy! She says "dadda" all the time.

My brother Eric and niece Hannah. Too cute!

Eric, Michelle, and Hannah

This was right after the egg hunt when Sky and Brad were begging for their candy.

Happy Birthday Ken!

Eric and Michelle treated us to Medieval Times for Ken's 35th birthday. It's a dinner of bread, chicken, a bbq rib, potato and dessert. There's a show with knights, horses, etc. We had a blast!

Our knight, the red knight. He was cool.

Eric was upset because he got the smallest rib.

Knotts Berry Farm

Hannah enjoyed herself. There was so much to look at!

Hannah and Lila had their first carousel ride together.

Auntie Michelle took Sky to get her face painted.

At the end of the day everyone was pretty wiped out.

We went to Knotts Berry Farm a few days ago with my brother Eric, sister-in-law Michelle and niece Hannah. Knotts Berry Farm used to be an actual farm but now it is an amusement park. Super fun day!
