Centennial Farm

Located on the Orange County Fair Grounds, Centennial Farm is an educational farm for kids. I let Sky skip school so that she could join us on this fun trip to the farm.

There was much pleading with the peacock to open his tail feathers. To no avail.

The kids learned that it takes water, soil, sun and seeds for plants to grow.

The baby chicks were the favorites, I think. Sky couldn't stop looking at them.

We saw this turkey along with geese, ducks, etc.

We walked through the gardens and saw so many different vegetables and fruits. It was very hard not to pick and eat the raspberries. And I learned that kiwi grow on a vine.

We saw an angora rabbit and how the hair is carded and then put through a spinning wheel to make yarn.

We saw a cow getting milked.

We learned that chicks hatch in 21 days and we saw posters of the various stages.

Then we got to pet some chicks. The two finger touch was a hard concept for Lila...

Some farmers taught us about oxen and how they plow. We also saw goats, sheep, bees, pigs, etc.

Fun and educational! A great combo. The kids looked like they were really "into" it! Would have liked being there with you guys. Tell the kids that Uncle Bill has planted tomatoes, swiss chard and peppers. Yummy! As always, loved the story and the pics! Thanks, Lori!
