The Ruined Sheep

Ok, so this picture is really funny to me and captures fully the story of the ruined sheep.  A  few years ago, my dear friend Joyce Sallquist, gave me this adorable little sheep.  Every year around Easter I put him up on the mantle over the fireplace (a no touch zone for the kids).  Well, apparently, the kids couldn't resist the little sheep and he ended up outside with them.  He fell in the mud and I found Brad with the hose trying to clean him off.  Needless to say, he was ruined and had to be thrown out.  The guilty look on Brad's face is priceless and Sky had a very hard time saying good-bye.  Everyone was very sorry.  RIP little sheep!

Our Boy Needs Glasses

We've known for a while that Brad might need glasses and today, a visit to the optometrist confirmed that.  He is far sighted with astigmatism. 
We have also thought for a while that he may be colorblind (my dad is color blind and it is a gene that is carried by the mom).  Today the optometrist also confirmed that.  Red/green and yellow/blue were difficult/impossible for him during the test.  The doctor was reluctant to label him with total colorblindness because he is still young and his eyes are still developing, but she said that it is a possibility. 
So now we shop for glasses for sweet Brad and hope, that somehow, he will not lose or break them. 

Newport Beach

 While Mimi and Grandpa Gene were here, we rented a small boat and cruised around the Newport Beach Harbor.  We saw 2 pretty impressive sea lions.

 It was a beautiful day (finally! it had been pretty cold while Jean and Gene were here) and we enjoyed looking at the houses in this area.

Legoland!

 Homeschooling Days at Legoland means discounted admission and lots of fun.  We went there this past week with Ken's mom and her husband Gene ("Mimi and Grandpa Gene" to the kids). 

 It was a cold, wet day but we still had lots of fun!

 Brad liked a lot of the rides, including this one where he could drive the car himself.

 Brad found a cool LEGO Batman.

 We spent some time indoors at a LEGO building area and also at the aquarium that is part of LEGOland.  Sky liked the LEGO model of the Washington Monument.

 Mimi and Grandpa Gene thought that the LEGO model of New York was pretty cool.

This One's For Dad

 It takes too long to send these pics via email so I decided to put them in my blog.  I went to a car show today and saw a few Chevy nomads and some other cool cars too.  
My dad has a Chevy nomad that he's restoring now.  His will look better than these when it's done.  My dad does an amazing job with restoring cars! 

Brad is really into looking at car engines.  I frequently pop the hood so he can gaze at the minivan engine.  And Sky has been really into learning the different kinds of cars and how much they cost, etc.  I guess they got the car gene from their Pepere!   

 I know this red one is not a Nomad but it was really pretty...and a convertible. 

 This blue one looks like a coup that my dad already has restored.

 Dad, I'm really liking the surf board look and the beach stickers on the windows.  Pretty fun! 

  I really like the food tray out the window that listed what number the car was.
